BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 1. The chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov met with a delegation headed by the chairperson of the Bulgarian Central Election Commission Kamelia Neykova, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to observe the Azerbaijani Parliament election, Trend reports.
As per the information, Panahov expressed satisfaction with the observation mission of the Bulgarian Central Election Commission monitoring the parliamentary election.
Informing the guest about the electoral process, the CEC chairperson noted that 598 international and more than 112,000 local observers are monitoring the elections, and web cameras have been installed in 1,000 polling stations covering the whole geography of the country for direct and continuous observation of the voting process without any registration.
The Chairperson of the CEC stated that 6.4 million citizens will be able to vote in the extraordinary parliamentary election. He emphasized that a total of 990 candidates are running for the mandate of the Azerbaijani Parliament, and all opportunities have been created for their free election campaign following the requirements of the legislation. Out of them, 305 candidates are representatives of 25 political parties. Panahov noted that the candidates are representatives of 25 political parties.
He pointed out that three organizations have applied to the CEC with a request to conduct an exit poll during the election.
Stressing that 6,478 polling stations have been set up in the country, Panahov informed that 6,343 of them are permanent and 135 are temporary. According to him, an extraordinary election to the Azerbaijani Parliament is held for the first time in all sovereign territories of Azerbaijan, and comprehensive conditions have been created for the participants of the election.
The chairperson of the CEC stated that 54 polling stations have been created for more than 42,000 voters who have the right to vote in the liberated territories to realize their constitutional rights.
Expressing satisfaction with the participation in the observation of the extraordinary election to the Azerbaijani Parliament, the head of the Bulgarian CEC Neykova emphasized that she would actively monitor the process.
She noted that the election process is going successfully. Recalling that they had visited several polling stations since morning, Neykova noted that she had observed a high turnout of voters.
The meeting also included an exchange of views and discussions on various issues related to the election.
