A presentation of the 'Open Shelf' project has taken place in Azerbaijan with the support of the Youth Foundation, the Foundation's press service told Trend.

A joint project of the Youth Foundation under the President of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Student Network and the Baku Office of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum has been implemented to increase the promotion of books, their preservation and to convey their message to future generations.

The purpose of the project is to attract attention of the youth to literature, raise interest in reading books in the young and inform foreign nationals about Azerbaijan through books. According to the principles of 'Open Shelf', residents must either return the book or bring another one to replace it.

The opening ceremony of the first "Open Shelf' took place today in Icherisheher (Archaeological Garden, near the monument to Azim Azimzade).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, executive director of the Youth Foundation Farhad Hajiyev told the audience in detail about the project.

According to him, presentation of the 'Open Shelf' on the eve of the Day of National Salvation (June 15) once again emphasizes the essential contribution made by the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the education and development of young people.

Speakers at the event congratulated the youth with the opening of the 'Open Shelf'.
