The Dutch Royal Haskoning company which won a tender to project the Baku international sea port in the Alat settlement will submit a general plan of the project to the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry in July, a source at the ministry said on Feb. 27.
"The company has launched work and should submit a general plan of the project in July," the source said.
A new multimodal marine port will be constructed in Azerbaijan. Besides the logistic center, a free economic zone is planned to be constructed in this territory in future.
The building of the new International Seaport in Alat will be realized into three stages and will be completed by 2015. The first stage of the project, which had to cover 2008-2010, provides building of two ferry-boats, three cargo bridges for the method of containers, vessels of 'ro- ro' type and usual (universal) dry loads. The second stage of project (2011-2013) provides building of three additional cargo bridges, and the third stage (2014-2015) - two additional cargo bridges. The project's cost is over than $400 million.
The company should project of onshore and offshore sections in the area, and will develop an estimate document of the project.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry and Royal Haskoning signed a contract. The invitation to participate in the tender was sent to six companies, but only three accepted it. "The proposal of the Dutch company was the most reasonable from the technical viewpoint," the source said.
The Royal Haskoning engineering and construction design company was launched in the Netherlands in 1881.
