In January-April Azerbaijan imported 507,700 tons of cement and cement clinker, which is 24.6 percent lower than the same period of 2008, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported.
Cement clinker in January-April was imported in volume of 198,500 tons, 36.9 percent lower than last year. Clinker was imported in amount of $6.4 million, which is 35.9 percent lower than the figure of last year.
During the first quarter of this year, the country imported 309,200 tons of cement, which is 13.8 percent less the January-April 2008. The cement during the period was imported worth about $14.2 million, which is 8.4 percent more than last year.
