Azerbaijani and Turkish customs agencies held discussions on cooperation in combat with customs violations, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said.
Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Asker Abdullayev, headed Azerbaijani delegation but Assistant Chairman of the Customs Board, Ibrahim Shenel, Turkish delegation at the meeting in Istanbul.
Shenel stressed importance of strengthening of bilateral relations, exchange of information between customs agencies of two countries. Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani State Customs Committee stressed importance of plan of actions realized on road and air check-points of two countries. This plan is aimed to identify and prevent illegal drugs, psychotropic substances, weapons traffic.
Decision to continue cooperation between customs agencies of two countries was made at the meeting. The agreement was also reached on mutual advanced and operational exchange if customs violations is revealed while transition of goods within execution of a plan of actions to combat with illicit traffic of drugs, psychotropic substances, weapons over 2009-2010, aimed to improve effectiveness of cooperation and mutual assistance between customs agencies of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Moreover, customs officials of both countries intend to implement mutual activity to ensure property right for goods - intellectual property objects carried through customs borders,, cooperation in observation of requirements of normative-legal acts and legislation on customs. Decision to exchange experience of coordinating officers to protect intellectual property rights and combat illicit goods traffic was made.
Heads of delegations exchanged views on changes in administrative and criminal legislation of both countries in combat with piracy and falsification during the meeting.
Heads of delegations signed the protocol in combat with smuggling as a result of the meeting.
