Capitalization of Azerbaijani banking sector increases by 8 percent in 2010

The capitalization of Azerbaijan's banking sector declined by 0.3 percent in December 2010. It increased by 8.2 percent and hit 2,169.12 million manat last year, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.

According to the CBA statistics, the number of banks with capital exceeding 10 million manat, hit  42 units as of December 2010, increasing by two banks compared to November, and remaining without changes compared to 2009. The weight of this category of banks in the total capital of all banks in the country in December increased up to 98.9 percent from 97.4 percent in November. The figure hit 98.7 percent a year ago.

The capital of two banks (with weight of 0.9 percent) is formed in the range from 5 million manat to 10 million manat, one bank (0.2 percent) - from 3.5 million manat up to 5 million manat.

The official exchange rate is 0,7974 manat to $1.
