The producer price index decreased by 3.6 per cent in Azerbaijan in April 2012 compared to the previous month and increased by 15.2 per cent compared to the same period of 2011, the State Statistics Committee said today.
Industrial prices in the mining industry in April reduced by 5.5 per cent compared to the previous month, in the field of oil and gas production by 5.5 per cent and in the production of stone, sand, salt, gravel and other products of the extractive industry by 1.1 per cent.
The producer price index in the manufacturing industry increased by 1.1 per cent in April compared to March and by 4.4 per cent per year. Prices in the chemical industry increased by 4.7 per cent in March, a seven per cent rise per year and construction materials by 0.3 per cent (5.1 per cent).
Prices in the rubber and plastic production reduced by 0.1 per cent (that is by 5.1 per cent per year), the metallurgical industry increased by 1.4 per cent (increased by 10.3 per cent per year) and production of leather, leather products and footwear by 0.8 per cent (increased by 0.6 per cent). On the other hand food products declined by 2.1 per cent (reduced by 4.9 per cent) and electrical equipment declined by 1.1 per cent (decreased by one per cent).
