Swiss companies are interested in establishing cooperation with entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan by creating joint ventures, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan stated citing President of the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Urs Lustenberger addressing the meeting of business circles of the two countries.
The delegation of business circles of Uzbekistan led by Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adham Ikramov visited Switzerland on May 28 - June 1.
The visit was organized to expand trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Switzerland.
Zurich also hosted the Uzbek-Swiss business forum and cooperation exchange aimed at developing Uzbek-Swiss trade and economic relations.
Representatives of leading banks, insurance and investment companies, manufacturers of textile equipment, building materials, consulting and logistics companies took part in the event from the Swiss side.
Promising projects for joint implementation in the textile, chemical, agricultural and automotive sectors of Uzbekistan were presented during the business forum.
“Holding business meetings between the two countries in the format of a business forum has become a convenient platform for discussing various issues of mutual interest. We brought together business representatives of the two countries to discuss increasing export of Uzbek products to Switzerland by signing long-term and solid contracts,” Ikramov said.
An agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce has been signed as a result of bilateral negotiations.
In 2017, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $154.5 million. Uzbekistan currently has 84 enterprises with participation of Swiss capital (55 joint ventures and 30 enterprises with full Swiss capital) and representative offices of 29 companies of Switzerland that are engaged in pharmaceutical, mechanical engineering, chemical, food tourism industries.
