The Indian airline SpiceJet plans to launch regular flights from June 10 on Delhi - Almaty - Delhi route with a frequency of six flights a week on Boeing-737 aircraft, Trend reports with reference to Forbes Kazakhstan.

The chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, Talgat Lastaev, met with the senior general manager of SpiceJet, Manoj Kumar.

The airline’s plans for regular flights between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.

The airline was issued a certificate of accreditation of a foreign air carrier.

“The opening of this flight will contribute to the development of trade and economic relations between the countries, transit potential and the tourism industry in Kazakhstan. It should be noted that since 2018 and extended to the end of 2019, an initiative on a 72-hour visa-free regime, transiting through Kazakhstan, has been in effect for citizens of India. The number of transit passengers for 2018 increased by 45 percent (2017 - 620,000 people) and amounted to 900,000 people,” the CIC reported.

SpiceJet is an Indian low cost airline that makes local and international flights.

In addition to domestic flights, the company operates flights to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Thailand, Sri Lanka, UAE, Oman and Maldives.

If Pakistan’s airspace is closed, the airline plans to operate its flights through the airspace of Oman, Iran, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. The duration of the trip in one direction will be about 7 hours.
