Georgia reduces export of knitwear to Turkey

Georgia exported 281.7 tons of knitted goods to Turkey for a total amount of $11.2 million from January through March 2020, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

On an annualized basis, Georgia reduced the export of knitwear by 133.9 tons. During the same period of last year, 415.6 tons of knitted goods totaling $9.3 million were exported from Georgia to Turkey.

Georgia exported 167.4 tons of men's or boys' suits, ensembles, trousers, knitted or crocheted, to Turkey for a total amount of $4.1 million from January through March 2020, which is 26 tons more compared to the same period last year.

In turn, from January through March 2020, Georgia imported 405.9 tons of other made up articles, including dress patterns from Turkey for a total amount of $10.2 million.

On an annualized basis, Georgia decreased the import of other made up articles, including dress patterns from Turkey by $176 tons. From January through March 2019, 581.9 tons of other made up articles, including dress patterns were imported by Georgia from Turkey for a total of $9.7 million.

Turkey ranks first in Georgia’s commodity circulation.

From January through March 2020, total imports from Turkey to Georgia amounted to $348.2 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $53.9 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover between Georgia and Turkey in the reporting period exceeded $402.2 million, which is 14.5 percent of Georgia's total trade turnover.
