Cost of housing rent in Iran up

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct. 19

Trend:

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development said the Ministry had not set prices for new lease agreements but it set a ceiling for an increase in renewal housing lease agreements.

A few days ago, the Iran Statistical Center published a report on the increase in the cost of housing rents last summer, which, according to the report, the average cost of rents grew by 40 percent, while the National Committee on Combating Coronavirus has sat the ceiling of 25 percent as the highest amount of increase in the cost of rents, Trend reports citing ILNA.

The Deputy Minister of Housing Affairs of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development explained the reason for the difference between the statistics announced by the Statistical Center and the approval of the National Committee on combating Coronavirus.

“The National Committee has decided to set an increase in rents by up to a maximum of 25 percent for renewal contracts, but what the Statistics Center has announced is a combination of new leases and renewal agreements,” said Mahmoud Mahmoudzadeh, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development.

"The Ministry of Roads and Urban Development had not set rates for new lease contracts, and basically there is no possibility of pricing for those agreements,” he added.

Emphasizing that the decision of the National Committee to set the rent rate has been implemented very well, he said that it was the first time that such a policy was implemented in the country and the judiciary cooperated very well.

He went on to say that such a decision and policy is being implemented in the country for the first time, so we should expect that maybe a few percent of the differences will occur.
