Cotton harvesting continues in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Thus, Turkmenistan’s Akhal and Mary regions have fulfilled their contractual obligations to harvest raw cotton.

More than 12,550 tons of cotton were collected in the Geoktepa district of Akhal region, more than 43,250 tons - in Akbugday district of Akhal region, and more than 35,730 tons - in the Serakh district of Akhal region.

In Turkmenistan’s Mary region, Takhta-Bazar districts collected 16,100 tons, Yoloten district- 31,500 tons, and Turkmen-Kalinsky - 35,500 tons of raw materials.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
