Gold exports from Georgia increased by 31.1 percent in 10 months of this year compared to 10 months of last year, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
For 10 months of this year, Georgia earned $77.8 million from gold exports, which is 4 percent of all domestic exports. Last year, the country received $59.4 million from gold exports.
Raw, semi-finished or powdered Georgian gold was sold this year to Germany, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
This year, Georgian gold worth $73.98 million was exported to Switzerland. Georgian gold exports to Switzerland have declined slightly over the past four years. Last year, Georgia sold gold for Switzerland for $65.13 million, in 2018 - $66.04 million, and in 2017 - for $64.32 million.
Germany ranks second in terms of gold exports this year, from which Georgia received $1.81 million.
Georgia's income from the sale of gold in the United Arab Emirates for 10 months of this year amounted to $1.09 million.
Georgian gold worth $949,600 was exported to Turkey.
Exploration of gold ores and extraction of precious metals is carried out in 8 regions of Georgia.
