Volume of rapeseed purchased from farmers in Iran grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15

The volume of rapeseed purchased from farmers in Iran increased by about 18 percent from April 6 to June 15, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC).

According to the report, about 103,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran under a guarantee during the reporting period.

The rapeseed in this volume has been purchased in 23 provinces of Iran. About 64,400 tons of rapeseed have been purchased in the Golestan Province and 20,000 tons in the Khuzestan Province of Iran, the statistics said.

“The value of rapeseed purchased under a guarantee so far is estimated at 10.8 trillion rials (about $258 million),” the statistics said.

Reportedly, rapeseed has been planted on 350,000 hectares in Iran in the current Iranian year and 600,000 tons of rapeseed are estimated to be harvested.

One kilogram of rapeseed is purchased by the Government Trading Corporation of Iran for 110,000 rials (about $2.61).

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
