Local van manufacturing in Iran surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 2. Iran’s domestic van production increased by 1 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to data from Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, Iran manufactured 2,542 vans over the course of nine months.

Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the country’s van output stood at 2,517 units.

In the 9th month alone (November 22 through December 21, 2023), 251 vans were produced within the country, representing a 14.3-percent decrease from 293 units in the same month the previous year.

Meanwhile, Iran manufactured a total of 3,164 vans domestically over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 267 percent compared to 862 vans in the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

Overall, 989,913 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were manufactured in Iran in 9 months. This is an increase of 12.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodr - operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
