Iran’s local minibus manufacturing down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 3. Iran’s local minibus production fell by 20 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), compared to the same period the previous Iranian year, Trend reports.

Data from Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade shows that Iran manufactured 612 minibuses in 9 months.

Meanwhile, in the same period of the previous Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), the country’s minibus production stood at 766.

Over the ninth month alone (November 22 through December 21, 2023), Iran produced 26 minibuses, representing a 77-percent decline from 114 in the same month last year.

Meanwhile, 1,118 minibuses were produced in the country for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 10.8 percent compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

Overall, 989,913 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were manufactured in Iran in 9 months. This is an increase of 12.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

There are three giant car manufacturing companies, Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
