The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan Republic prepares for the repair of the highway of Alat-Hajigabul. $4-5 m are expected to be spent with these goals, Javid Gurbanov, the Head of the Road Building Department of Yolnagliyyatservis of the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan Republic told today, Trend reports. Asphalt pavement of about 5 cm on the highway with the length of 45,6 km is expected to be laid within the repair works.
The Turkish Company of Turan Khazinadaroglu, the general subcontractor of the project completed the roda building of the highway of Alat-Hajigabul in February 2004. But, just after a month, in March some sections of the highway began to outwear. According to J. Gurbanov, that happened because of technical shortcomings during the road building.
During the tender the cost of this project made up some $27 m. However, then, referring to some shortcoming during the road building, the company announced about the rise in the cost of building on $4 m. These means were granted to the company. The final cost of the project made up $32,4 m.
The means on the implementation of this project were granted by the Kuwait Fund ($18,15 m.), the Islamic Development Bank ($11,5 m.), and the Government of Azerbaijan ($6,85 m.).
