Azerbaijan, Shamkir / Trend corr N. Fatullayeva / The harvest yield's increase is underway in the Azerbaijani Shamkir region. This year 36,983ha were sowed, according to the head of the Shamkir Region Executive Power, Nazim Veysalov.
According to him, 6,093t of potatoes, 5,563t of vegetables, as well as 3,000t of fruits were produced in the region this year. The harvest is still in progress. The area sowed with grains made up 14,143ha. A total of 10,187ha grain crops have been completed. And 38,201 t were produced. Preparations for the harvest of 3,956ha of grain are underway.
Veysov said the agriculture products are sent directly to Baku markets. Thus, in the first half of 2007, some 829t of different agricultural products were sent to Azerbaijan's capital.
