Black Sea Novorossiysk port increases transportation of oil products in January

In January the Russian Black Sea Port of Novorossiysk shipped four million tons of oil compared to over 3.3 million tons in the same month of 2008, the message at port's official website says.

 

In January Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port OJSC transported approximately 1.2 million tons of oil products compared to 765,500 ton during the same period of 2008.

 

Totally, the port transported approximately seven million tons of different cargos in January compared to six million during the same period of 2008.

 

Significant increase in oil and oil products transportation was reached in January 2009. Their volumes increased 699,000 tons (21 percent) and 423,000 tons (55.3 percent) accordingly. A new terminal to transport light oil products with one million tons capacity per year was put into operation in late 2008. It promoted to increase oil products transportation. As a result, specific weight of oil products in total turnover of cargos via Novorossiysk Port increased 12.7 percent in January 2008 to 16.9 percent in first month of 2009.

 

SOCAR transported its own oil via Novorossiysk port. In January 2009 SOCAR exported approximately 167,200 tons of oil via north pipeline Baku- Novorossiysk compared to 256 tons during the same period of 2008.

 

Totally, approximately 1.2 million ton of oil was exported in 2008 equal with the same index of 2007.
