Roughly 5 million tons of Kazakh oil will be transported via territory of Azerbaijan in 2009, Kazakh national company KazMunayGaz head Kairgeldi Kabidin said on June 3.
"Over 3 million tons of total volume of Kazakh oil to be transported will fall on Tengiz field," Kabildin said.
Output of Tengiz field was in the amount of 18 million tons in 2008. This index hits 25 million tons in 2009, he said.
U.S Company ChevronTexaco launched transportation of Tengiz oil via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in 2008. Upon the agreement oil from Kazakhstan will be transported via BTC and railroad to Georgian ports (Kulevi and Batumi). ChevronTexaco is operator of Kazakh field Tengiz.
BTC Co share holders are: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); StatoilHydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Hess (2.36 percent).
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan is owner of Georgian Black Sea terminal in Kulevi but KazMunayGaz is owner of oil port Batumi.
