The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to complete two-dimensional geophysical studies on the regional profile line Jahandar-Tersdeller-Borsunlu (western region) in September, a source in SOCAR reported.
The source said the processing of the data and its interpretation will be completed by March 2011.
"The company launched field work several months ago and they will be completed in September," the source said.
According to the source, the project should cover over the distance of 380 kilometers. The ongoing work covers a depth of 15-20 kilometers.
The main objective of the research is to build a model of deep basin.
Azerbaijan has 59 oil and gas fields, of which 18 are offshore.
