SOCAR increases contributions to state budget by almost 17 percent in January-April

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) transferred nearly 518.87 million manat to the state budget in January-April 2013, or 75.44 million manat (17 per cent) more than in the same period last year, SOCAR reported on Tuesday.

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) transferred nearly 518.87 million manat to the state budget in January-April 2013, or 75.44 million manat (17 per cent) more than in the same period last year, SOCAR reported on Tuesday.

In 2012, SOCAR transferred over 1.4 billion manat to the state budget or 90 million manat (6.7 per cent) more than in the same period of 2011.

According to the report, SOCAR transferred about 50.06 million manat to the State Social Protection Fund in January-April.

In total, last year SOCAR transferred 157.5 million manat to the State Social Protection Fund or 23 million manat (17.1 per cent) manat more than in 2011.

SOCAR includes the Azneft Production Association (companies producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerkimya Production Association (chemical industry) and Azerigas Production Association (gas distribution).

SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country with two refineries on its balance sheet and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland.

SOCAR is co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim.
