Turkmenistan sees 4.1 percent increase in oil production

The oil production in Turkmenistan increased by 4.1 percent and hit 11.4 million tonnes in 2013, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy.

Turkmenistan accounted for 0.3 percent of the world oil production volume in 2013.

The oil consumption in this country stood at 6.3 million tonnes during the reporting period, which is by 2.8 percent more than in 2012.

Turkmennebit (Turkmenoil) state concern is the main oil producer in Turkmenistan.

Turkmennebit's activity covers more than 600 oil and gas fields at different stages of development.

The fields that have been recently developed include Chekishler, Garadurun, South Kamyshlyja, Nebitlije located in the country's west.

Burren Energy (the branch of Eni), Mitro, Dragon Oil, Petronas are among the foreign companies that produce oil in Turkmenistan under the production sharing agreement.

The intensive development of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, allowed an increase in oil production in this country. Currently, the negotiations are underway with the companies of Europe, the U.S. and the Gulf States.
