France’s oil and gas corporation Total will present a program on development of the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea for final approval to Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, a source in SOCAR told Trend Nov. 28.
The program has already been approved by Total’s partners, noted the source, some details will be finalized before presenting to SOCAR.
The source went on to add that the program should be presented to the company in the coming days.
Earlier, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said that Total may start drilling of the first well at the Absheron field in mid-2017.
Reserves of the Absheron field are estimated at 350 billion cubic meters of gas and 45 million tons of condensate, according to SOCAR.
Participants of the Absheron project are: SOCAR – 40 percent, Total – 40 percent (technical operator of the project) and Engie – 20 percent.
