Georgia’s national external debt decreases

By February 29, 2020, Georgia’s national external debt exceeded $5.673 billion, Trend reports referring to Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

As reported, this is $4.161 million lower than previous month’s data.

Specifically, by January 31, 2020, Georgia’s external debt surpassed $5.677 billion.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) where Georgia’s liability is $1.247 billion remains the biggest creditor of Georgia.

The World Bank's International Development Association (IDA) to which Georgia owes $938,299 million ranks second.

Georgia’s external debt to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), which ranked third, amounts to $904,283 million.

The volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia constituted $137.3 million in February 2020. This is 9.5 percent ($11.9 million) more than the amount in February 2019.

In February 2020, $21.7 million was transferred from Georgia, which is 22.4 percent more compared to $17.7 million in February 2019.
