Azerbaijan records big surplus in state budget for January 2021

The Azerbaijani state budget revenues amounted to more than 2.3 billion manat ($1.3 billion) in January 2021, which is by 27.4 percent more than in the same month of 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

In the reporting month, the state budget expenditure made up over 1.2 billion manat ($710 million), down by 12.2 percent year on year.

As of late January 2021, a surplus of over 1.08 billion manat ($640 million) has formed in the Azerbaijani state budget. The nominal volume of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Azerbaijan in the reporting month amounted to 64.7 billion manat ($38.05 billion).

Thus, the state budget surplus equaled 17.4 percent of Azerbaijan's GDP.

Overall, in 2020 the state budget revenues amounted to more than 24.6 billion manat ($14.4 billion), and expenditure - 26.4 billion manat ($15.5 billion). As a result, at the end of 2020, a deficit in the amount of over 1.74 billion manat ($1.02 billion), or 2.4 percent of the country's GDP, was formed in the budget.
