Turkmenistan notes surge in non-cash transactions through terminals, ATMs

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 28. The total volume of non-cash payments via terminals from January through October 2023 amounted to 12.96 billion Turkmen manat ($3.71 billion) in Turkmenistan, Trend reports.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, during the specified period, these figures are 20.1 percent more than similar figures for the first 10 months of last year (10.79 billion Turkmen manat or $3.09 billion).

The total amount of non-cash payments through ATMs amounted to 309.63 million Turkmen manat ($88.63 million), which is 40.5 percent more than in the first ten months of 2022 (220.33 million Turkmen manats or $63.07 million).

Furthermore, the total volume of non-cash payments through terminals in Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to 13.8 billion Turkmen manat ($3.93 billion), which is 27.6 percent more than in 2021 (10.81 billion Turkmen manat or $3.08 billion).

The financial sector of Turkmenistan is undergoing continuous expansion. Notably, the integration of mobile applications is being implemented to simplify payments for diverse services and products; there is a notable uptick in electronic transactions; and the process of settling goods and services is being optimized through banking terminals.
