Iran's Chabahar Free Zone Organization talks trade with Afghanistan

The CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization announced the number of trade exchanges through the port of Chabahar to Afghanistan.

Referring to the transit of goods from Chabahar port to Afghanistan in the first five months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), Abdulrahim Kurdi the CEO of Chabahar Port Free Zone Organization told Trend.

The transits from Chabahar to Afghanistan amounted to 7047 tons of goods worth $52 million.

He estimated the value of the transit of goods from Chabahar to Afghanistan last year.

“The volume of goods transited to Afghanistan through Chabahar port in last Iranian year (March 2019 to March 2020) was 418,104 tons worth $229 million,” said Kurdi.

One of the goals of Chabahar port development has been the development of Afghanistan and the connection of East Asian countries to Central Asia through the south-north corridor via Iran.

To this end, Chabahar trilateral transit agreement was signed between Iran, Afghanistan, and India in 2018.
