BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. Azerbaijani company Azermash and Uzbekistan are actively working on a joint project to organize the assembly of Cobalt cars using CKD (Complete Knock Down) technology, an informed source told Trend.
According to him, the production volume of "Cobalt" cars is designed to produce 15,000 cars per year, and its launch is scheduled for 2025.
Within the framework of cooperation, production of Tracker and Onix cars is also underway at the plant in Hajigabul city.
Meanwhile, the production capacity of passenger cars, trucks, commercial and special-purpose vehicles, as well as buses in Uzbekistan is more than 500,000 units per year. Uzbekistan's major automobile manufacturing enterprises are UzAuto Motors, MAN Auto Uzbekistan, SamAuto, and ADM Jizzakh. BYD electric cars are also produced in the country.
The machine-building industry is also developing in Azerbaijan. Large enterprises are Azermash, AzSamand, commercial and truck plants in the cities of Ganja and Nakhchivan.
To note, an Uzbek-Azerbaijani business forum was held in Tashkent on August 22. Following the talks, a portfolio of projects worth $2 billion was formed.
Furthermore, on August 23, within the framework of President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Tashkent, the heads of state met with representatives of business circles of the two countries. As a result of the meeting, seven projects worth $520 million were prepared for launch.
