BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. The rapid digitization of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor), stands out as one of the most critical challenges for its effective functioning, Advisor to Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Chairman Arif Aghayev stated, Trend reports.
Aghayev said the statement at an expert discussion within the framework of a consultative meeting of the heads of railway administrations on the creation of the International Association "Eurasian Transport Route."
"To date, a unified digital platform for the TITR has not been established. This platform is essential for integrating the digital systems of participating countries, which currently have varying levels of digitization. This complicates the implementation of a unified system for information exchange and cargo tracking. We need to expedite the work on a single digital platform to avoid delays in the supply chain," the advisor noted.
In order to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Middle Corridor, a unified multimodal transport connection has been created along its entire length. The information systems of the railways in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have already been integrated with the customs module of the DTC (Digital Trade Corridor) "Tez Customs," with similar efforts planned for the railways in Georgia.
Additionally, efforts are underway to digitize the Middle Corridor to improve its operational efficiency.
In 2025, the "Block Digital Corridor" platform is expected to launch, integrating document flow, customs clearance, and cargo tracking into a single ecosystem.
