Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan agreement on navigation can take effect in 2012

Kazakhstan will complete all the internal state procedures under the Agreement on Cooperation on sea trade navigation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan by the end of December, Kasim Pletov, head of Water Transport Administration of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, told Trend on the phone on Monday. After these procedures, the agreement will come into effect.

"Kazakhstan will conduct all procedures under this agreement by the end of year," Pletov said.

According to him, any ship from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will have possibility of free enter to commercial ports of another country, being loaded and unloaded in these ports.

"All the ships will be served in the ports by turn, regardless of the state affiliation," Pletov said.

Identity document and civilians passport of both countries will be recognized by the port authorities of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, he added.

According to Pletov, the entry into force of this agreement will contribute to dynamics of maritime transport development between the two countries.

The Agreement on Cooperation on sea trade navigation was signed on Oct. 20 by Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov and Kazakh Transport and Communications Minister Berik Kamaliyev.
This agreement is the principal document of mutual cooperation between the two countries in the field of maritime transport.

A similar agreement was signed on June 10, 1997 in Almaty, and expired in 2003.
