BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 14. Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan plan to establish a joint investment development fund, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan told Trend.

The agreement to enhance efforts in this direction was reached during a visit to Turkmenistan by Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Nazarbek Malaev. He attended the Turkmen Investment Forum held in Ashgabat.

The countries also agreed to enhance collaboration on the construction of a "Turkmenistan" business center and a resort-recreational facility in Kyrgyzstan. They emphasized the need to simplify trade and transit procedures, improve conditions for cargo transportation, and increase trade volume.

Moreover, the sides decided to hold a series of online meetings involving relevant ministries to discuss unifying transport, transit, and visa fees, streamlining export, import, and transit procedures, and extending the validity of visas for truck drivers to one year.

Additionally, they discussed exporting electricity and oil products from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan's participation in the forum aims to further develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and implement agreements from the 6th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Humanitarian Cooperation, held in Cholpon-Ata on July 24-25, 2024.
