Tajikistan’s Khatlon region sees increase in agriculture output, exports for 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. Tajikistan’s Khatlon region, located in the southwest of the country, increased agricultural production and its exports in 2022, the official said, Trend reports via Tajik media.

According to the information, the region manufactured agricultural production worth 26 billion somoni ($2 billion) in 2022. It is an increase of 6.7 percent over the same period in 2022.

The growth in crop production amounted to 6 percent year-on-year. The production of animal husbandry in the reporting period rose by 7.9 percent over 2021.

According to the statistics, Tajikistan’s Khatlon region exported 23,561 tons of agriculture in 2022.

In particular, the region exported 6,044 tons of vegetables (including 4,157 tons of onions), 5,038 tons of fruits, 10,704 tons of grapes, and 1,451 tons of other products.

Notably, Tajikistan exported more than 191,000 tons of agricultural products in 2022. Vegetables accounted for more than 40 percent of total exports of agricultural products from the country - 76,600 tons, of which 66,600 tons were onions.

At the same time, Tajikistan's exports of fruit made up 29 percent of the total volume (54,500 tons).
