A delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Berdyniyaz Myatiev, held the Turkmen-Croatian political consultations in Zagreb, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message Feb. 5.
A meeting was held with participation of Zdravka Busic, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.
The sides discussed cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. An exchange of views was held on topical issues of international agenda, regional security and cooperation.
“In this context, the cooperation within international organizations was discussed. A separate topic of discussions was the issue of intensification of relations within the EU-Turkmenistan format,” says the message.
Participants of negotiations underlined the role of high-level visits and discussed the possibility of establishing and developing the Turkmen-Croatian inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The parties expressed particular interest in developing trade and economic cooperation and expanding contacts between business circles of the two countries. In this regard, the importance of the joint intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation was stressed.
It was reported in November 2017 that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is expected to visit Croatia. Croatian companies are interested in partnership in such areas as energy, transport, shipbuilding and metalworking.
