BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21.​ Azerbaijan's Baku hosted a significant conference titled "Turkic Barometer 2024: Current Approaches to Education and Scientific Cooperation in Turkic States," Trend reports.

In determining the priorities of Azerbaijan's foreign policy, President Ilham Aliyev defined strengthening the Turkic world and developing ties with Turkic states as one of the main directions. Under the goals set out in the document “Vision of the Turkish World 2040”, a large-scale international study called “Turkish Barometer” is conducted annually between member countries by the International Turkish Academy established under the auspices of the Organization of Turkish States. The executor of this research in Azerbaijan is the Social Research Center.

In the report on the results of the study “Turkic Barometer 2024: Current Approaches to Education and Scientific Cooperation in Turkic States”, conducted with the participation of the Center last year, the existing approaches to cooperation in the field of education and science in Turkish states were analyzed, taking into account the views of scientists, teachers and education policy makers. In addition, the research explored societal trends towards cooperation in the areas of joint education and science policy making, the development of joint curricula between Turkish states, the organization of academic, teacher, and student exchange programs, the implementation of research projects, and the development of educational programs.

The event is attended by Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Board of the Social Research Center and MP, as well as Academician Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkish Academy, MPs, and other dignitaries.

The conference, which took place in the “Victory Hall” of the Social Research Center, was attended by the chairman of the board of the Social Research Center, MP Zahid Oruj, president of the Turkish Academy, academician Shahin Mustafayev, Turkish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün, MPs, representatives of state structures, rectors of universities, representatives of Turkish states.

“The research of cross-national and regional public opinion and its comparative analysis is of particular importance to our political elites, academia, and think tanks. The Turkish Academy's Turkish Barometer project “forms a roadmap for the future by comprehensively examining the historical mission-Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, in short, Turkish geography from a scientific perspective and studying it in depth to achieve strategic goals.”

He also said that just as we have overcome attacks with false information directed against national sovereignty, attempts to occupy our cyber homeland and brainwash people, as well as disinformation propaganda in a single media archive following the example of the Patriotic War, we can also overcome attacks directed against historical consciousness, national culture, values and traditional family values. structures in Western-oriented scientific and educational spaces through joint policies in the field of education, youth, and family:

“We propose the establishment of a Turkic World Science Center at Garabagh University with a scholarship program named after Heydar Aliyev.

A higher music school of the Turkish world can be built in the space that is considered the conservatory of the Caucasus. Flags of ancient and modern Turkic states can be hung in Khankendi”.

In his opening speech, the President of the Turkish Academy, Academician Shahin Mustafayev, noted that the study is a large-scale research of topical issues about the existing scientific and educational cooperation between Turkic states.

Noting that the results of this study provided a complete picture of the activities carried out in the field of education and scientific cooperation between Turkic states over the years, Mustafayev emphasized the need to strengthen Turkic states regionally and globally by developing a common policy in the field of education and science. In his speech, the academician also noted the importance of creating a common Turkish literary language to accelerate cooperation in the field of education and science based on research results, as well as the importance of proposals to improve the procedural rules for mutual recognition and equivalence of higher education diplomas and academic titles.

Following the presentations, the results of the scientific and sociological study were presented to the conference participants by members of the research team from the Turkish state. The general coordinator of the project on behalf of the Turkish Academy, Prof. Abulfaz Suleymanli, elaborated on the results of the study, noting that the study covers multilateral aspects of science-education relations of the Turkish state. He said it provides an extensive database on academic exchange programs, joint research projects, and the development of institutional cooperation.

The presentations were followed by a broad exchange of views on educational policies, academic exchange programs, joint research projects, and the development of institutional cooperation.
