ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 28. Industrial enterprises in the Lebap region, located in the east of Turkmenistan, sold products worth more than 5.89 billion Turkmen manat ($1.69 billion) from January through November this year, Trend reports.
During the reporting period, the enterprises exported 71.7 percent of the total volume of industrial goods sold, sending them to foreign countries.
The total volume of production of consumer goods by enterprises in the region in the first eleven months of this year amounted to 4.5 billion Turkmen manat ($1.3 billion), while the state part amounted to 503.8 million Turkmen manat ($144.21 million).
Industry plays a vital role in the economy of Turkmenistan, and in recent years there has been tremendous growth in this sector. The Government of Turkmenistan is actively implementing a program aimed at stimulating investment in industry and ensuring a favorable economic climate.
