TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 14. Employees of Uzbekistan's Embassy held a meeting with the Executive Director of the German Eastern Business Association (OA), Michael Harms, Trend reports.

During the conversation, they discussed a number of projects of economic cooperation between the two countries for 2024, as well as the organization of various events with the participation of representatives of the business community.

A delegation from OA is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan in May with representatives of leading German companies and firms, as well as to hold a joint business forum and B2B meetings with the participation of leading companies from the two countries.

In addition, to establish investment and trade-economic cooperation with enterprises in the textile, machine-building, metallurgical, food, and pharmaceutical industries of Germany, it was proposed to hold a conference of entrepreneurs in the format of "Fergana Valley-Germany" in Namangan.

Within the framework of the participation of the head of Uzbekistan in the summit "Central Asia-Germany" on September 29, 2023, at the economic forum organized jointly with OA in Berlin, it was proposed to make this format regular and hold the next meeting in Uzbekistan.

The German side stated that it is ready to closely cooperate in the professional training and further employment of Uzbekistan's youth on the basis of dual vocational education in conditions where there is an acute shortage of personnel with specialized secondary qualifications in Germany.

In addition, Michael Harms said that OA will participate in the organization of visits by delegations from Uzbekistan's regions to Germany, including negotiations on the conclusion of new joint investment projects and export contracts with German companies and banks.

The plans defined following the meeting at the German Eastern Business Association are aimed at further accelerating bilateral economic cooperation in 2024 and ensuring practical implementation of agreements reached at a high level.

Earlier in 2023, the issues of investing German companies in the Namangan region were discussed with the Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, Michael Harms.

Following the talks, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the German-Eurasian Economic Association (DEWIB) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to strengthen and expand trade and economic relations.
