Fifth Iran-Zimbabwe Joint Economic Commission meeting winds up

(IRNA) - Fifth Iran-Zimbabwe Joint Economic Commission meeting wound up here Monday.

At the meeting, agreements drawn up by Iranian and Zimbabwean working groups on economic, industrial and cultural cooperation were signed, reports Trend.

Experts from the two countries working with sub-committees of education, culture, medical health, economic, commerce, exhibitions, mines and industry drafted agreements to develop cooperation and the final memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed on Monday afternoon.

Zimbabwe agreed that it would provide the Islamic Republic of Iran with seven types of mineral products in return for its debts.

The commission underlined the need to further increase cooperation on air transport between the two countries.

Iranian experts are expected to visit Zimbabwe to conduct feasibility study on construction of oil refinery and a medical center in the city of Herare, Zimbabwe.

To increase current level of agricultural products in Zimbabwe, it would apply for purchase of tractors and agricultural machinery from Iran within two months.

Iranian companies were called to embark on manufacturing low voltage lamps, public telephones, medical instruments and ferrous parts in Zimbabwe.

The fifth Iran-Zimbabwe Joint Economic Commission meeting kicked off on Saturday.
