Georgia reveals preliminary rate of economic growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

It is expected that Georgia will end the current year with at least 7.7 percent of economic growth and employment will increase, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava said, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

According to the information, in June 2020, the Georgian economy grew at a fairly high rate of 18.7 percent, which is really unprecedented for this period. However, there is an increase not only compared to June 2020.

“If we compare the same period of 2019, this year a growth of nine percent was observed. So, we have absolute growth with a successful year like 2019,” Turnava said, estimating the preliminary growth rate of the economy in June 2021.

The minister also noted that there is economic growth in almost all sectors of Georgia’s economy. In particular, the processing industry, banking and financial sector, hotel and other accommodation facilities, construction and trade are especially prominent.
