OSCE Chairman to visit Moldova to discuss Transdniestria settlement

( OSCE ) - The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, will travel to Moldova on 7 and 8 October. The Minister's visit comes as the OSCE's 56 participating States prepare for the 15th Ministerial Council to be held on 29 and 30 November in Madrid.

The Chairman-in-Office is set to discuss ways to restart talks on a Transdniestria settlement as well as Moldova's internal reform agenda with Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, Speaker of Parliament Marian Lupu, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan and Minister for Reintegration Vasile Sova.

Minister Moratinos will also hold talks with the leadership of Moldova's breakaway Transdniestrian region in Tiraspol.

Minister Moratinos will speak to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova (str. 31 August 1989, no. 80) at 13:40 on Monday, 8 October 2007. The timing of the briefing is to be confirmed.
