Three killed, five injured in southwest China traffic accident

Three people died and five others were injured as two vehicles collided rear-end on Sunday morning in southwest China's Yunnan Province, local police said on Monday, Xinhua reported.

The accident occurred at 9:10 a.m. after a bus was in collision with a truck in front, on the road linking Lincang city with Mengding town in the southwestern part of Yunnan.

Two passengers on the bus died at the scene, and one died in the hospital. One bus passenger was severely injured and four others were slightly hurt.

The bus was carrying 19 passengers and the truck driver was the only one aboard when the accident occurred.

A probe was launched into the detailed cause of the accident.
