Turkey should Receive Full Support from  International Community in Fighting with Terror: CE Secretary General

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend K.Ramazanova / The Turkish government should receive full support from the international community for all measures respecting international law and the European Convention on Human Rights, Terry Davis, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, said in his statement.

"I welcome the diplomatic initiative to resolve the situation in direct talks with the government of Iraq," he stressed.

Concerned about the latest deterioration of the situation in south eastern Turkey Davis strongly condemned PKK terrorism, both in and outside Turkey.

"My thoughts are with the families and friends of the soldiers who were killed and those who are still missing. My message to them and to the Turkish people is one of condolence and solidarity,' he said.

Last week the Turkish Parliament authorized the Government in conduct of military operations in the Northern Iraq against the fighters of the Kurdish Workers Party - PKK. According to the Turkish military, around 3,500 separatists gathered there.

At early hours of 21 October the Kurdish fighters attached on army divisions in Turkish province of Hakkari in frontline with Iraq. Some 12 military died and 16 injured. Eight Turkish military more were seized by the separatists.

On Monday the general headquarters confirmed reports on termination of 34 Kurdish fighters in the border through use of artillery and aviation forces.
