Azerbaijan and the UN have created three joint working groups for the implementation of the UN-Azerbaijan Partnership Framework (UNAPF), Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev told reporters in Baku Jan. 19.

He noted that since 1992 Azerbaijan has been closely cooperating with the UN and participating in a number of programs.

“The UNAPF document fits into the national concept of Azerbaijan’s development, and meets the principles set out in the strategic road maps for various sectors of the country’s economy,” Mustafayev said. “Three working groups of representatives of the UN and the government of Azerbaijan were created to implement the UNAPF document.”

“These working groups were established for diversification of the economy, strengthening of the institutional capacity in rendering effective social services and the reduction of risks in the field of environmental protection,” he noted. “These groups have already submitted their presentations. They were given the appropriate instructions, and an action plan within the project will be agreed upon and approved by Azerbaijan’s government in a short time, and its immediate implementation will start afterwards.”
