An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the MPV scale was recorded near the Kazakh-Chinese border on the night from Feb. 29 to March 1, RIA Novosti reported citing Kazakhstan's Seismological Expedition of the Science Committee under Education and Science Ministry.
The earthquake occurred at 00:37 (UTC/GMT+6 hours) March 1, 289 kilometers to the east of the city of Almaty - at the border of Kazakhstan with China.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 25 kilometers.
