Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / The claimant for chairmanship in the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (CPA), Rauf Gurbnov, will not participate in today's plenum of the party, he said to Trend on 22 August.
After Ramiz Mehdiyev, who chaired the party since 1993, died the party collapsed to two parts - the supporters of the Deputy Chairman Rauf Gurbanov and the supporters of the Deputy Chairman Rustam Shahsuvarov.
The supporters of Shahsuvarov plan to hold an unofficial judgment over Gurbanov today and to remove him from the party.
According to Gurbanov, he wanted to take part in the plenum, but then learn about the prepared provocation. "I received calls warning me about the problems to occur if I participate in the plenum. My supporters informed me of the provocative plans being developed against me and advised me not to attend the plenum," he said.
The plenum of the CPA cannot hold a friendly party court. The matter can be considered at the meeting of the Central Committee, Gurbanov said.
The supporters of Seyidagha Muradov rival with Gurbanov.
