If Necessary, Turkey to Begin Anti-Terror Operations: Turkish Parliamentarian

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / If necessary, Turkey will pass the border of Iraq and begin anti-terror operations to ensure the country's security, according to the Chairman of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party's National Security Commission, Hasan Murad Merjan.

The Supreme National Assembly of Turkey gave permission to the Government to begin military operations against PPK terrorists. The Parliament made this decision on 17 October.

Turkey has still not commenced military operations in the North of Iraq. According to Merjan, this step will be taken if necessary.

" Turkey requires and expects full termination of PKK activity. If it does not take place and the acts of terrorism in the country continue, we may begin anti-terror operations," the Turkish Parliamentarian said.

"If Turkey needs to carry out military operations, it is not important how these will end," the Parliamentarian said, commenting on the probability of protest by international organizations and countries worldwide.

Merjan concluded that Turkey hopes that the military operations will not be necessary.
