The President of Syria Bashar al-Assad is looking for political asylum against the background of fierce fighting that continues in Syria between the government forces and the armed opposition, 'Sabah' newspaper reported on Saturday with reference to Turkish diplomatic sources.
According to the newspaper, Ankara has evidence that the president's wife Asma al-Assad has left the country, and Bashar al-Assad is currently in search of a country to which he could leave.
The newspaper also writes that Ankara does not yet have information about the country to which the president is going to leave.
The conflict in Syria has been continued since March 2011. According to the UN data, more than 70 thousand people have been killed during the conflict.
