Prime Minister: Azerbaijan Will Assist Moldova in Searching Oil and Gas

Trend I.Khalilova / The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed readiness at the meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova, Vasily Tarlev, to send an expert group to this country to carry out investigation work in the oil fields. Tarlev stated at the meeting of the Caspian Integration and Business Club on February 23 that the first 30,000 tons of oil have been produced in depth of 600 meters in Moldova . "It is a good indicator," he said.

According to the preliminary assessments, there are hydrocarbon reserves in the depth of 1200- 2400 meters . "The confirmation of the large hydrocarbon reserves is that Moldova is border with Romania and Ukraine ," he said.

The Moldovan Primer said that during the visit of the Azerbaijani expert group, the sides will prepare concrete action plans to hold investigations in the southern part of Moldova .

"Presently five villages of Moldova are supplied with own gas. We plan to, till 2011, carry out work on increasing and ensuring our country with own gas," he said. Presently key part of the gas of Moldova is imported from Russia .
