Kazakhstan Invited to Forthcoming GUAM  Summit in   Baku

Aghayeva / The Kazakhstan Government has been invited to the forthcoming summit of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova) to be held in Baku on 19 June, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Latif Gandilov, reported on 7 June from Astana, Kazakhstan.

Participation of Kazakhstan in the summit was discussed at the meeting with the advisor to Kazakhstan's President, Nurlan Onjanov.

The level of Kazakhstan's participation in the summit will be known in near future, the Ambassador said.

Expansion of bilateral relationships, further development of cooperation in transport and energy fields was discussed at the meeting, the diplomat noted. Kazakhstan's joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main oil export pipeline was regarded as an important stage in developing relationships. An exchange of viewpoints on Kazakhstan's interest in the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars took place at the meeting.

Issues regarding the official visit of the Azerbaijani President to Kazakhstan were discussed. The visit is presumed to be held this summer.
