NATO Deputy Secretary General to Visit   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynov / Deputy Secretary General on Social Diplomacy of NATO, Jean Fournet, will visit Azerbaijan in July. The purpose of the visit will be for the participation in the annual Week on NATO to be held from 9-14 July in Baku, the Press-Attache of the Azerbaijani mission to NATO, Leyla Abdullayeva, reported on 22 June from Brussels.

According to Abdullayeva, the program of Fournet's visit to Azerbaijan is under current consideration. Along with his participation in NATO events, the Deputy Secretary General is expected to hold bilateral meetings with officials from the Azerbaijani Administration.

Within the framework of the annual Week of NATO in Baku the following events will take place; NISA's summer session (NATO International School in Azerbaijan), Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council colloquium, Spokesmen of State Bodies workshop, as well as one for journalists, a meeting of the representatives of NATO Information Centres in partner-countries, Opening of the Euro-Atlantic Information Centre in Ganja, Azerbaijan, and so on.

The event will be held under the slogan of 'Energy Security and Protection of Critical Infrastructure in the Euro-Atlantic Region'. Thus, the participants of the summer session will discuss such issues as 'Region of Three Seas (the Caspian, Mediterranean, and Black Seas) and its Role in Energy Security', 'Role of Carbohydrate Resources: Prospects and Alternatives', 'Threat of Terrorism', 'Economic Aspects of Energy Security', 'Role of NATO in Energy Security', 'Strategy of Energy Security in Azerbaijan', and so on.

The Week of NATO in Azerbaijan is organized by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry with materials and expert assistance provided by NATO. The NATO International School in Azerbaijan, found at the Foreign Ministry, is celebrating its 5th Anniversary this year. NISA was established in 2003 and officially registered in March 2007.
